  <description>PATRICIA DANDONOLI
CEO &amp; President
Water Aid America - Part 1 of 2

During this special month commemorating women’s history and the strides that women have made throughout the years, Angela McKenzie sits down with Patricia Dandonoli, CEO and President of Water Aid, a non-profit organization committed to bringing clean water and sanitation techniques to the poorest, most marginalized countries of the world.

Here in America, pretty much everyone can attest to the fact that they can take long warm showers or baths, wash their dishes and hands from the tap, and drink water in bountiful sums, even though we may sometimes take it for granted. Dandonoli carries Water Aid’s mission close to her heart, striving to make ground water accessible to the local communities of Sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia, while empowering the locals to maintain, repair and manage their water equipment and water businesses all on their own without dependence on foreign systems.

In this two series interview, we get the inside scoop on Patricia Dandonoli’s life as a small town girl in Waterbury, CT. She modestly states that the “daughter of a butcher … was very unlikely to imagine herself ever saying your majesty” to Queen Rania of Jordon, but with much effort and determination, she made it happen. Tune into Initiative Radio to learn how water can join the world together in “global interdependence and interconnection,” and how one woman works hard to make it happen.
